Nowadays, as the DVD and DVD player popularize, more and more family have DVD discs, DVD player, so DVD cases is a must in these family, they need to store their DVD and keep it in good condition. Thickness of DVD Cases and their names
DVD Case is a small size plastic case for storage of DVD disc, it is made by plastic injection machine. DVD case is how many sizes and models, but they are named by their thickness and the quantity of discs they could keep. According to the thickness there's
- 14mm DVD cases ( a DVD cases with thickness 14mm),
- 9mm DVD cases,
- 7mm DVD Cases,
- 5mm DVD cases, these DVD cases could keep one or two DVDs, we call it single DVD case or double DVD case.
There's also DVD Cases which hold more than 2 DVDs, we call it multiple DVD case or multi DVD cases. As these multiple DVD cases need to hold more than two disc, we need to increase the thickness of the case, so we have created
- 39mm DVD Case (for 11 or 12 DVDs),
- 33mm Multiple DVD Case (for 9-10 DVDs),
- 27mm multiple DVD cases (for 7-8 DVDs),
- 22mm multiple DVD cases (for 5 to 8 DVDs),
- 14mm Multiple DVD Cases ( this DVD case has the same thickness of the standard DVD case, but it can hold 3 to 6 DVDs).
Surface of DVD Cases
DVD Cases has 2 type of surface finish, one is glossy (smooth), and the other is matte. Glossy finish DVD cases has frost clear(semi clear), super clear (crystal clear, transparent) DVD cases, and solid black glossy DVD Case (not good in look and not so popular). Matte finish surface is often for black DVD Cases and translucent (matte semi-clear )DVD Cases.
Grade of DVD Cases
DVD Cases has two grades, one is hand packing grade DVD cases, and the other is machine Packing Grade DVD Case. A hand packing DVD case is a DVD Case which the disc is put into the case by hand, this type of DVD cases is often use cold-runner injection molds to make which is a low cost molds. And machine packing DVD cases is made by hot-runner molds,which is more expensive than cold-runner molds, and the plastic material should be good enough, otherwise the DVD Cases can not run on automatic packaging machine. Maybe you have found that on our webpage, we always put a flatly layed DVD case for machine packing DVD case pictures, it shows the machine packing DVD case should be able to layed flatly on the machine's transmission belt.
Locking mechanism (Disc Holder)
DVD Cases often have a locking mechanism, we call it Disc holder. Which should be able to hold the disc tightly with itself, disc should not be able to be shaken out, and the holder should not be easily broken. Many branded DVD Cases supplier design their own Disc holder and apply for patents.
Booklet Clips (Booklet holder)
Booklet cllip is a clip inside of the DVD cases, It is used for keep a booklet inside the DVD case. Some DVD Cases has booklet clips, and some DVD cases don't have booklet clips.
Sleeve ( film outside of DVD Cases)
Generally every DVD Cases have a clear sleeve outside of the DVD Cases, some customer would require not to have a sleeve. The sleeve have matte finish surface and glossy finish surface. Glossy sleeve is widely used. The thickness of the sleeve is important, more thicker means better quality.
